Welcome to Green Venture's Air Quality section. The goals of our Air Quality programs are to:

• reduce damaging air pollutants in Hamilton
• increase physical activity levels
• slow climate change

Green Venture’s air quality and greenhouse gas reduction programs focus on transportation choices and individual and organizational behavioural change. Green Venture encourages Hamiltonians to embrace active and sustainable modes of travel over single occupancy vehicle trips. Currently, most Hamiltonians drive alone. These trips lead to unnecessary and dramatic increases in both air pollution and greenhouse gas emission.

In the short term Green Venture promotes smart driving practices such as reduced idling and driving technques to increase fuel efficiency.  In the long term, Green Venture is committed to helping Hamiltonians shift to transportation modes such as public transit, walking, cycling and carpooling, that produce less or no harmful emissions. 

Any time we reduce the amount of fuel we burn then we also help to improve air quality and limit greenhouse gas emissions.  So, choosing sustainable modes and methods to care for our gardens and lawns or curtailing open air burning or asking a neighbour to consider not idling their vehicle all can go a long way to improving our health individually, locally and globally. 

Green Venture receives funding and support from Clean Air Hamilton on many of our air quality initiatives. 

Tire Pressure Clinics - 2013- 

Green Venture will be offering a series of tire pressure clinics in the summer of 2013 at local stores in the Hamilton area. Get your tires checked and the air pressure topped up for safety. Learn about EcoDriving. Funding for the tire pressure clinics in 2013 is courtesy of a Shell Fuelling Change grant.
