Fuel Efficient Driving Tips

Paying too much at the gas pump?

The average Canadian driver could travel 20% further on the same tank of fuel by adopting some straightforward driving techniques.  That equates to 20% less greenhouse gas emissions and less smog forming pollutants too!

See how you rate.

Next time you fill up reset your trip odometer.  At the subsequent fill up check the odometer, write down the number of kilometres you travelled and the number of litres of fuel that you pumped into the car to refill.
  • this tells you how many litres of fuel it took for you to travel a certain number of kilometres
  • do this for a couple of refills (you don't have to let your tank go empty before you refill)
  • calculate the average number of litres your car burns per km (or how far your car will go on 100 L)
  • also note if you did mostly, some or no highway driving (usually you will get better fuel economy on the highway)
Then start EcoDriving according to these driving tips and make sure you follow the above steps to re-calculate how far you now travel on 100L.
